American Doubles... the Trials... the Triumphs... the Domination-This Week In American Doubles-June 17th

THIS WEEK IN AMERICAN DOUBLES
June 17, 2008

It was another great week for American Doubles in junior, college and professional tennis. At the USTA International Grasscourt Championships, the boys from the U.S. prevailed with Raymond Sarmiento & Jordan Cox winning over Ryan Lipman & Ryan Noble. Brooke Bolender and Beatrice Capra took the girls in a final that was also All-American over Kate Fuller & Nicole Stracar.

In the last college tennis of note for the 2007-08 season, UCLA's Riza Zalameda & Tracy Lin and Kaes Van't Hof & Robert Farah of the University of Southern California (Farah is from Columbia) were named ITA Doubles Teams of the Year.

On the USTA Pro Circuit, Lauren Albanese (pictured right) was the doubles winner with South Africa's Surina De Beer at the El Paso, TX, event over fellow Americans Ashley Weinhold & Lindsay Lee-Waters. And Liezel Huber and partner Cara Black took the title at the DFS Classic in Birmingham, England.

Author Marcia Frost was on hand at the start of the 2008 Trius Technologies $15,000 Futures Pro Circuit Tennis Tournament in Sacramento, CA, where many players from American Doubles… the Trials… the Triumphs… the Domination were showing off their skills including Scott Oudsema, Nikitas Kryvonos, Lester Cook, Ryler DeHeart, Nate Schnugg, Greg Ouelette, Dennis Nevolo and Phillip Simmonds. Also at the event is recent NCAA doubles champion Kaes Van't Hof, who will once again be teaming with Schnugg after making it to the semis last week at the Loomis event.
