American Doubles... the Trials... the Triumphs... the Domination-This Week In American Doubles-June 24th

THIS WEEK IN AMERICAN DOUBLES
June 24, 2008

At the Bank of Bermuda Foundation ITF Junior Circuit Tournament, three out of four of the doubles finalists were Americans, with Sachia Vickery teaming with Fausthyara Piertersz of the Netherlands to take it over fellow Americans Tristen Dewar & Mara Schmidt.

Catrina & Christian Thompson (right), who finished their degrees at Notre Dame last year, won the doubles at the USTA Pro Circuit event in Houston. Scott Oudsema & Greg Ouelette were finalists at the men's event in Natomas.

It was a really tough Wimbledon loss for Americans Scott Lipsky & David Martin, the duo who are featured in the "The Power of Staying Together" chapter of American Doubles... The duo lost in a tight contest (played over two days) to the third-seeded team Jonathan Erlich & Andy Ram of Israel, 5-7,4-6,7-5,6-3,6-3,11-9, but the Williams sisters did make in through their first round of doubles at Wimbledon, as did Eric Butorac. There are still many more great American doubles specialists yet to play so keep tuned to http://www.Wimbledon.org.
