American Doubles... the Trials... the Triumphs... the Domination-This Week In American Doubles-August 19th

THIS WEEK IN AMERICAN DOUBLES-August 19, 2008

Brought to you by the new hit book, American Doubles... the Trials... the Triumphs... the Domination

From the Bronx to Beijing, it was an incredible week for American Doubles.

At the GHI Bronx Classic, there was an all-American women's doubles final as Raquel Kops-Jones & Abigail Spears took on Ahsha Rolle & Angela Haynes. It was the top seeded Kops-Jones & Spears (above) who prevailed in the end, after a great display of doubles by all.

The Bronx doubles final was just the end of an incredible weekend in American Doubles as both the Williams sisters and the Bryan Brothers took home medals for the United States at the Beijing Olympics. For the Williams', it was the top prize as Serena & Venus won the Gold -- their second (they skipped the Athens Olympics because Serena was injured). The Bryans took home their very first Olympic prize, the Bronze Medal for men's doubles.

The U.S. Open main draw begins the week of August 25th and it's a great place to see lots of great American Doubles. In the meantime, we'll keep an eye on what's happening at Pilot Pen.
